Thoughts on Imperfection Through The Lens of a Candle

Thoughts on Imperfection Through The Lens of a Candle | Mining For Soul
This messy candle is giving me 2020 in a nutshell vibes and I’m kinda living for it.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I was playing around with dripping wax and created that very bold soot line as a byproduct.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Usually I do my best to not show the unclean side of the candles I sell, but us candle lovers know burning them can result in a less than neat look.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m doing my best to not judge when candles are not perfectly burnt with wax lingering along the sides or when the occasional soot from the flame darkens the edges.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Something strange I’ve noticed with these candles is sometimes the container darkens a lot and other times it burns super clean. My mind may be trying to connect dots, but I swear it darkens more during times when I feel all out of sorts. Like the negative energy is escaping and leaving behind a mark.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Or I guess when you intentionally tip a burning candle over in an attempt to create drip porn... ha ha!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

In the end I feel that by lessening up my need to burn a candle perfectly and keep it looking Instagram worthy helps me practice the art of embracing imperfection in all aspects of my life.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Perfectly imperfect has always been my favorite quote since I first read it in an interior design book back in 2002.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Gotta keep practicing it and walking that talk into 2021. This messy candle is Enough and so are we ✨
